TOC recruitment drive offers 600 opportunities

Southeastern train driver Jane Fentaman

Southeastern has launched its biggest ever recruitment drive, in the hope of attracting 600 new starters over the coming year with a focus on people who might not have been considering a career in rail.

The company has opportunities for 170 trainee drivers, more than 100 station staff, and other posts in roles such as Railway Enforcement and Protection, Onboard Managers, Train Conductors and Engineers. There will also be roles available in management and other specialist careers.

An advertising campaign is supported by a series of ‘Day in the Life’ videos with a range of colleagues showing a behind the scenes glimpse of working at Southeastern.

Earlier this year, Southeastern became the UK’s first passenger rail operator to publish a Social Mobility Action Plan, setting out how the business will help the regions and communities it serves to fulfil their potential. Access to well-paid and rewarding careers is seen as a key part of this commitment.
