Gemini Rail at Wolverton is repairing corrosion on Northern’s fleet of Sprinter diesel multiple units, which date from the mid-1980s. This is vehicle 57147, recently part of three-car set 150006 and owned by Angel Trains. With the vehicle firmly secured to prevent flexing, staff cut away corroded steel from the lower part of the bodyshell and then weld fresh material in place. Gemini told RAIL that 30 staff work on its corrosion line, which operates 24/7.
