Long-disused platform at Cleethorpes reopens to passengers after £1m refurbishment

Cleethorpes' platform 4. NETWORK RAIL

Cleethorpes’ platform 4 has been reopened to passengers after years of being out of use.

Network Rail has upgraded the platform, which until recently could only be used for stabling stock, to help ease congestion at the station.

The £1 million refurbishment, which has taken just over two years, has included rebuilding and repairing the platform walls, and installing a new drainage system, shelter and lighting, while track to the platform has been re-laid.

Chris Wright, senior sponsor for Network Rail’s eastern region, said: “The reopening of platform 4 is great for Cleethorpes and the surrounding areas, boosting capacity and reliability for passengers travelling along the rail network.”
