Tyne and Wear Metro bids to overcome setbacks as it introduces new trains

Newcastle Central Station on December 9 2024, heading to Airport from South Shields with driver training taking place. So far, 15% of drivers have received training on the units. PAUL BIGGS.

It will be 2027 at the earliest before Tyne and Wear Metro’s transformation is complete, with only 15% of its drivers so far trained on the new Stadler Class 555 units.
