British firm on the brink of £100 million wagon contract

H Davis is set to win a £100 million wagon order from Iarnród Éireann for the supply of up to 400 railway wagons. The current vacuum-braked wagon fleet, mainly dating from the 1970s, will be replaced with modern airbrakes wagons and will allow IÉ to expand rail freight. On March 15, IÉ released Class 201, 220 River Blackwater, into traffic in a revised original IÉ orange livery, to mark the 30th anniversary of the introduction of the class into services. It is seen passing Islandbridge Junction with the Dublin North Wall to Ballina IWT. STEPHEN WHITE.

Iarnród Éireann (IÉ) is set to award a £100 million contract to Mansfield-based wagon manufacturer WH Davis for the supply of up to 400 vehicles.
