Passenger operator c2c has revealed plans to increase peak-time capacity with a new timetable and refurbished trains, at a cost of £12 million.
The operator has unveiled a new train design for 17 of its Class 357 electric multiple units, comprising 20% of its overall train fleet. Seats will be removed and grab handles installed, to provide extra space in the vestibule ends for 152 additional standing passengers on each service. This part of the project costs £4m and will be carried out over the next six months.

c2c in my opinion has the best trains and the best services than Abellio Greater Anglia and I think c2c was once voted the most punctual train operator in South Essex with very good customer satisfaction but they have had lots of problems such as signalling problems, overhead wire problems and the fares have gone up which was very expensive but they still are the best than AGA.

Don't understand this. I cant get a seat on c2c at present, so they remove some of them, forcing more people to stand? Madness

Another operator taking seats out to create more standing space just to cram in as many as possible. It seems to be forgotten that passengers prefer a seat to standing, particularly on longer journeys such as London (whether its Fenchurch St, Limehouse, or W Ham) to Southend - this is certainly not inner London metro.

They claim to be carrying 20% more passengers but have decided not to obtain 20% more rolling stock to cover this! They were at one time going to get extra rolling stock but then cancelled the order. Network Rail even spent huge amounts of money extending platforms so that all stations could handle 12 coach trains. This action is just pure greed on their part, I could understand it if the franchise was about to end but it's just been renewed! I think the money should go to reducing fares to compensate the people who will now have to stand due to c2c's refurbished trains having less seating.
