Vivarail spokesman Alice Gilman told RAIL on October 19 discussions have been held about the possibility of the rebuilt D-Trains being used as part of the new Anglia franchise.
She suggested that North Norfolk and the Marks Tey-Sudbury routes could be homes for the Class 230s, which are being converted from redundant London Underground D-Stock.

Alice is a man? That's nearly as good as 'Borough Bridge Viaduct' in a recent issue

That's down to our in-house writing style - regardless of gender we have to refer to women as 'chairman' or 'spokesman'. Appreciate it looks a bit strange!

Hopefully DfT won't play politics and kibosh this. A great idea to reuse old tube train bodies, and increase the number of badly needed cars in the country.

It's not up to DfT, it's the responsibility of the franchise bidder to make a solid case for whatever rolling stock it intends to deploy, in its Fleet Strategy. If the trains are capable of the duties and approved to run on those parts of the network then there is no angle for DfT step-in.

Would be good to see some of the Class 230's to be operated on Marks Tey-Sudbury, Ipswich-Felixstowe, Norwich-Sheringham and also to be operated on the rural lines in Southwest England and the North of England.
