'Constructive discussions' over Chiltern Mk 5 deal

TransPennine Express 68023 Achilles stands at Doncaster on September 8 2022, on the rear of the 0926 Cleethorpes-Manchester Piccadilly test run. The ‘Nova 3s’ were withdrawn last year after the discovery of body cracks - a low point from which Wolmar says TPE has staged a recovery under the government’s Operator of Last Resort. KEITH PARTLOW.

Chiltern Railways could be moving closer to taking on Mk 5 coaches from Beacon Rail, but will not be drawn on industry speculation that a deal is likely.

Hope this deal gets concluded successfully. It makes perfect sense for Chiltern to take them. It has got to be better than having a brand new train fleet sitting in MOD sites.
