'Constructive discussions' over Chiltern Mk 5 deal

Chiltern Railways could be moving closer to taking on Mk 5 coaches from Beacon Rail, but will not be drawn on industry speculation that a deal is likely.

    Hope this deal gets concluded successfully. It makes perfect sense for Chiltern to take them. It has got to be better than having a brand new train fleet sitting in MOD sites.

    Great news for Chiltern, GWR and Scotrail who get cascaded units. Meanwhile Cross Country passengers continue to suffer endemic gross overcrowding with no end in sight and no interest being taken by DfT or politicians. Concentrating all 22x units with XC to enable a double-set operation is a no-brainer, but instead they are lavished on OA operators and now, it seems, Scotrail.
