Despite only being halfway through its realistic life expectancy, the first DB Cargo UK Class 67 to be sent for scrap is 67003. It was taken to EMR at Kingsbury on May 27 for disposal.
No takers so first DB Cargo UK Class 67 goes for scrap

It's all diesels that many rail enthusiasts have soft spots for. Electric just seem hollow. Good luck DB in trying to get one in preservation....

The only way that 67's could become useful is to completely remove the ETH ability to slightly lighten them and to improve reliability, and then regear them to 75mph to give a useful tractive effort. They could then find a comfortable home on intermodal duties. Without the ETH, you tweek the electronics so that as much power is send to the traction motors as possible. So so remove EHT, regear to 75mph, divert power to traction.
