Note: There is a pre-contracted and still-current option for VTEC to retain six ‘short rakes’ (each comprising 1x Class 91+6 Mk 4 coaches and one DVT) plus a spare Class 91, all to the end of the ICEC franchise. This would mean the number of off-lease IC225 elements could reduce to: 24 Class 91 locos, 25 Mark IV DVTs and 229 Mark IV passenger coaches.

Some of the trains listed could be facing the scrap including the Class 142, Class 143 and Class 144 Pacer Busrail stocks as they are over 40 years old. Some of the trains including the Class 707’s, Class 458/5’s and Class 379’s could be stored. Whilst more trains will be built and added to the railway network across the UK.

Was thinking if Southern could inherit the 30 Class 707’s to replace the Class 455’s used on South London suburban services and possibly fit toilets in them. And also Souhern to inherit the converted 5-Car Class 458’s to replace the Class 313’s on the West Coastway and East Coastway services. Plus Greater Anglia might aswell retain the Class 379’s because the Class 379’s would be ideal for some branch line services in Essex such as Wickford-Southminster, Colchester-Walton-on-the-Naze, Manningtree/Ipswich-Harwich Town services and Colchester-Colchester Town shuttle service. Whilst the new Class 720’s will operate on Liverpool St-Southend Victoria, Braintree, Colchester, Ipswich, Norwich and Clacton-on-Sea and between Liverpool St-Cambridge, Cambridge North, Hertford East, Kings Lynn and Bishops Stortford services. Aswell Class 745’s to operate on Liverpool St-Norwich mainline and Liverpool St/Stratford-Stansted Airport services. That will replace the Class 379’s.

The Pacers and 153s would be excellent for many preserved and heritage railways ,to provide a commuter service or run trains during quiet periods.
