The Department of Transport has agreed to fund new cycle hubs at 15 railway stations across Sussex and Surrey, including Dorking, Hove and Portslade. Southern Railways have been awarded £1.5 million to carry out the installations, which will fund 1,000 additional spaces at stations.
The scheme aims to encourage people to leave their cars at home, and provides a secure place for cyclists to leave their bikes. Entry to the cycle hubs will be controlled using an electronic smartcard.
