Hull Trains launches first on board real-time passenger information system

First Hull Trains has modified a Class 180 used between London King’s Cross and Hull by fitting the very first real-time passenger information system to be installed on a passenger train on the national network.

Development of the system - which makes use of 54 feeds from the national DARWIN gateway of real time train running data - is the product of a partnership between FHT, Angel Trains, Alstom, KeTech and National Rail Enquiries.

The trial has involved the fitting of five new on-board high-definition colour display screens, including departure boards for approaching interchange stations, underground status updates and weather information. Throughout the journey, passengers are given up-to-date information about stopping patterns, expected arrival times, delays and reasons for those delays.
