Eurotunnel reports strong revenue growth for the first quarter 2015

Groupe Eurotunnel recorded an 11% increase in the number of freight trains using the tunnel in the first quarter of 2015, with Shuttle revenue increasing by 10%.

A new all-time record was also broken for the amount of Truck Shuttle traffic in March 2015, with 140,009 trucks transported through the fixed link.

Chairman and Chief Executive Jacques Gounon said: “On top of the excellent progress in revenues across the Group’s activities, the new all-time record for truck traffic recorded in March shows the potential of the Channel Tunnel, which will be further strengthened by the current investment programme”.

With 2,297,400 passengers in the first quarter, Eurostar’s traffic remained stable as a result of the terrorist attacks in Paris at the beginning of January and then the problems at the end of January and on March 2, when traffic was interrupted on HS1 in the UK.
