The SNP confirmed its policy on a future HS2 Scottish connection - the subject of talks between Rail Minister Baroness Kramer and the Scottish Government in the past few years - in the publication of its General Election manifesto on April 20.
The manifesto said the SNP would “seek adequate transport infrastructure investment, with a particular aim of improving transport and communication links across the north of these isles”.

There is no surprise about this demand, it has been stated often enough! Both Conservative and Labour are likely to listen to it, but how quickly are they likely to build it? Sooner than otherwise they would have done I think, and certainly following the Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Middlesbrough route. That incorporates the SNP's much trumpeted interal HSL and serves the North-East an important English region.
