Although the completion of the Full Business Case has been delayed into the New Year, Merseytravel has confirmed that the re-signalling work to make the 1.5 mile (2.5km) Halton Curve bi-directional is now on course for completion in 2018.
The Curve is currently usable only in the northerly direction, and the project will enable trains to run directly from Liverpool Lime Street and Chester/North Wales.
