Building work has begun at Abbey Wood station as part of Crossrail’s re-development project.
Network Rail is installing more than 100 piled foundations to support the new station building. The piling work is due to finish at the end of the year, when the station building will become visible from above ground.
This work follows demolition of the old Abbey Wood station and track installation back in May 2015.
The new station will have a bigger ticket hall and step-free access to platforms. Work is expected to complete in 2017.

Crossrail could extend to Dartford, Gravesend and Rochester if approved by DfT & Southeastern.
