Commuters and football fans travelling to Manchester today (October 28) are advised to allow themselves extra journey time due to two football matches in the area.
Manchester United and Manchester City will be playing at home for the Capital One Cup. The railways and roads will be much busier than usual, with 100,000 fans expected to travel into in the area.
Transport for Greater Manchester is working with transport operators to assist people with their journeys in the area. First TransPennine Express is strengthening their evening rail services from Manchester to York and Liverpool. Northern Rail is running additional replacement buses from Manchester Victoria through Farnworth.

100,000 fans? That's at nearly 25,000 more than Old Trafford can hold.
