Northern Rail services between Workington and Carlisle have been cancelled today (December 4), because of landslips and flooding.
Heavy rain on the evening of December 3 caused trackside landslips at Wigton and Aspatria, and flooding at Maryport.
Replacement bus services are running between Workington and Carlisle. Network Rail engineers are working on the line to get it re-opened as soon as possible.
Weather warnings are also forecast for tomorrow (December 5), with 50mph speed restrictions on Cumbrian coast services. Passengers are advised to check before travelling at www.nationalrailenquiries.co.uk.
