Walsall bridge work begins

Work has begun on replacing the second half of the railway bridge that connects to Walsall High Street.

The new bridge will have a shallower structure, allowing more room to install overhead wires.

Network Rail is carrying out the work as part of the Birmingham to Rugeley electrification project, which aims to make services faster, more reliable and quieter. The first phase of the bridge construction work was completed over Christmas 2015.
