Network Rail is evaluating responses to a 3.4-mile proposed link from west of Heathrow Airport to Terminal 5.
The link would leave the Great Western Main Line (GWML) at a new junction between Langley and Iver stations and connect to the existing railway at Terminal 5. It would allow four trains per hour to run in each direction from Reading to Heathrow via Slough, with alternate services calling at Twyford and Maidenhead.

That's why the hidden platforms are being built at Heathrow T5 just in case of the new rail link to be built west of West Drayton to connect with Heathrow T5 from the GWML.

Given the overcrowding on trains from Reading to Paddington, this would be a really good way to create space by getting Heathrow passengers out at Reading. It should then run on from T5 to T4 and then join Crossrail 2.
