Train operator Thameslink unveiled the spacious new Siemens Class 700 Thameslink train at Blackfriars station on May 24.
Fifty per cent longer than almost every train in the Thameslink fleet, the train on show to media and stakeholders can carry up to 1,750 people seated and standing. It will be running on many routes to London from Sussex, Surrey, Kent, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
The design is essential to meet the huge growth in passenger numbers that has soared 40% in the past decade.

No tables, (apart from First) so nowhere to put your stuff. No Coat hooks, fewer seats. What a horrible experience that is going to be on a 2 hour journey, through 2 major London Airports and St Pancras

I heard rumours that Siemens are to build 25 Class 701 6-car trains for Great Northern or is it still to be classed as Class 700/2. Anyways these new Class 700 trains will help boost passenger capacity and to get more people off the roads and use the trains to commute to/from London.
