The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) is investigating how a wheelchair user was hit by a freight train on the platform at Twyford station on April 7.
The wheelchair was occupied by a teenage girl and moved towards the edge of Platform 4 at 1052. A passing freight train hit her multiple times, with the last contact pushing the wheelchair clear of the platform edge. The girl suffered a minor injury to her foot.
Before the accident the wheelchair was stationary behind the yellow line painted on the platform and parallel with the tracks. The girl’s mother has stated that she had applied the brakes on the wheelchair.
The RAIB will investigate issues including effects of wind turbulence, and consider previous research of such aerodynamic factors.

How/why it was hit. It was to close to the edge probably with no brakes on and the carer (the mother) wasn't doing her job ie caring for the disabled person in her charge. Harsh comments yes but how often does it happen and the reason.

i can read very well thank you. If everything was as the mother said it wouldn't have happened, but it did, so draw your own conclusion to the episode. Would you admit to not putting the brake on, no and neither would I.

I was there with my wife when this happened and I can confirm the wheelchair was well behind the line the train was traveling very fast at the time .and it was.my wife who stopped it hitting the train again after it was bounced back on to the platfom
