A public vote has opened to select the name of a new station at the former St James site in Liverpool.
Discussions between the main scheme partners (Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, Network Rail, Merseyrail and Liverpool City Council) have produced a shortlist of three potential names: Liverpool Baltic, Liverpool Parliament Street, and Liverpool Riverside.
Artists’ impressions of what the station will look like when complete were launched to coincide with the vote. The public has until 1700 on February 18 to vote for their favourite at https://newliverpoolstation.commonplace.is

I'm guessing Cllr Liam Robinson, chair of Merseytravel is running this poll, as to call a station 'Liverpool Riverside' when it's probably the furthest city centre station from the River Mersey sounds absolutely about right for him.

Each railway station (large or small) needs a meaningful name, and it must have that name in any case. This feature makes it unique and immortal from all other railroad structures in the world. A "rail steel bravo" from me once again to those who pioneered the project in question! Dr. Güntürk Üstün
