Driver hit by brick thrown at train

Northern is offering a £1,000 reward for information that will catch the hooligan who threw a brick at one of its trains and injured a driver.

The attack took place near Clifton, on the Manchester-Preston route, at about 2300. The diesel multiple unit’s windscreen was shattered, and shards of glass hit a member of the train crew in the face. He was taken to hospital but is now recovering at home. British Transport Police is also investigating.
