Direct trains between Norwich and Stansted Airport will start running from December 15.
Greater Anglia will extend its Norwich-Cambridge service to the airport, although not every train will run beyond the city due to pathing constraints.
Using its new bi-mode Class 755s, GA will operate eight trains in each direction on a weekday (leaving Norwich at xx03 from 0903 onwards, with trains leaving Stansted at xx48 from 1048), 15 on Saturdays and 13 on Sundays. The intention is for the ‘755’ to operate on electric power from Ely-Stansted.

Direct Norwich to Stansted Airport service via Ely/Cambridge is actually a brilliant idea. Plus with a new Stratford-Stansted Airport which is also to be introduced in service in December. As the Class 745s could be introduced in service on the Liverpool St-Stansted Airport, Stratford-Stansted Airport and Norwich-London Intercity.

@Philip Pechey roughly about 1 1/2 hours I imagine or not far off 2 hours. Depending on the trains do stop at some stations including Thetford. Except Norwich-Peterborough local trains do stop at every station (except some stations are request stops).

I’m pleased this is starting but it’s a shame the direct trains only start at 09:03, not helpful if you’ve got an early flight.

1hr57 - including 9 intermediate stops. You can use EMT and change at Ely, then X-ctry, and do it in 1hr45... :-/

I noticed a Stanstead train go through Diss today but cannot see any mention of the train stopping at Diss on timetables ? Please could this be clarified

Marianne, Stansted services do not go via Diss. I believe you saw an Empty Stock working back to/from Norwich Depot for servicing....
