New platforms and signals at London Bridge

Network Rail will close parts of London Bridge for 16 days from December 20, as two new platforms are brought into use and 40-year-old track and signals are replaced at the approach to the station.

The work is part of the £6.5 billion Thameslink scheme, and up to 750,000 journeys will be affected. NR says this period has been chosen because commuter journeys usually drop 10%.

In January, Platforms 5 and 6, which are currently used by Thameslink trains, and those serving Charing Cross will be taken out of use.
