Plan submitted for £18.6 million station at Soham

An £18.6 million single-platform station at Soham could be open in around two years, after Network Rail submitted a planning application to East Cambridgeshire District Council.

A funding package was announced last September by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority. Subject to gaining approval, construction should be finished in spring 2022.

The station will feature a 102-metre platform that can accommodate four-car trains, plus waiting shelters, lighting, information screens and a public address system.

Greater Anglia will serve the station on its Ipswich-Peterborough route.
