The first Stadler bi-mode unit for Greater Anglia made its main line debut in the early hours of December 15, when it ran between Diss and Trowse Junction (near Norwich).
Crewed by Rail Operations Group, four-car 755405 reached speeds of 100mph on diesel power. So far the BMU is not certified yet to operate on electric power.
The ‘755’ was hauled from Norwich to Diss by ROG 37601, which was used as a standby locomotive for the tests.
Three Class 755/4s have so far been delivered by the Swiss manufacturer (755405/407/408), with 24 four-car and 14 three-car sets on order. Stadler is also building 20 12-car Class 745 electric multiple units for GA.
GA says the BMUs will enter traffic from the summer, although it hopes to put the first four-car sets into traffic in May.

It’s good that the Bi-mode Stadler Class 755 Flirt that are now doing test runs and are scheduled to enter service from Summer next year. With the arrival of the Stadler Class 745 EMU Flirt being delivered from its manufacturing plant in Switzerland and the EMU Class 720 Aventra from Bombardier Derby manufacturing facility which will also enter passenger service from next year aswell.
