Services over London Northwestern Railway’s Watford Junction-St Albans Abbey line have been slowed down or cancelled, as a consequence of Network Rail being unable to carry out its planned track renewal last winter due to COVID restrictions.
Journey times have been extended to 38 minutes since June 28, with some trains suspended altogether because of fears of track distortion during hot weather. NR also says there are problems with loose ballast in some locations.
LNWR says a revised timetable will provide passengers with secure knowledge of whether they will be catching a train or a bus.
