Two female rail freight workers were category winners at this year’s Everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards.
Zoe Dobell (Project Engineer, London Underground) won the Rising Star of the Year Award, while Nicola Hosty (Head of HR Support Services, Northern Rail) won the Industry Champion Award.
The Freight Transport Association holds the awards annually to raise awareness of career opportunities available for women in the freight industry. This year’s ceremony was held on June 3 at the Hilton, Park Lane, London.
The top award for Woman of the Year 2015 went to Fiona Kerr, Managing Director of FirstGroup’s bus services in Glasgow.
FTA Chief Executive David Wells, who hosted the ceremony, said: “It is incredible to think that a staggering 2.2 million people work in transport and logistics in the UK, but less than a quarter of these employees are female. Working with everywoman helps us to highlight the importance of the freight and logistics sector, and encourages others to join what is an essential industry to the UK economy.”
