App spots the crowded trains to avoid
Go-Ahead Group has tested an app on Thameslink services between East Croydon and Brighton that lets passengers see whether trains are standing-room only or have seats available.
The Rail Watch system analyses mobile phone signals and information about train capacity to determine likely occupancy rates before showing the status of the next five trains due at a given station.
Depending on the results of the trial, it could be introduced across the entire Thameslink network in May.
