“Effective transport is rooted in the market, and responds to the needs of passengers and road users who provide the demand,” says Secretary of State for Transport Chris Grayling. He says that, while that might seem like an obvious statement, it is not something that transport planners have always practised. He explains that every region in the country is unique and that they all have different transport needs, which is something he will have at the forefront on his mind in transport decision making.
