“Britain’s railway network has a long way to go in the way it embraces modern technology,” says NR’s Chairman, Sir Peter Hendy. He continues: “It won’t be easy to marry everyone’s needs on a busy mixed-use railway, but the potential reward is too huge to ignore.” Hendy believed that the need for capacity both from the network and economy’s points of view should determine which areas are upgraded first with digital deployment. He says suppliers should be prepared to invest and the industry prepared to reward them through incremental revenue growth.
