Travellers are being pushed into using express rail services from airports that often cost double the price of alternative trains, despite being only marginally quicker, writes Transport Correspondent Graeme Paton.
Transport Focus has criticised TOCs and airports for promoting these services including Britain's busiest airport Heathrow, which reportedly directs travellers to use the Heathrow Express (£22 single), while ignoring Heathrow Connect (£10.20) - a service that typically takes only 10 minutes longer to reach Paddington. TF said it defaulted travellers towards the more expensive ticket "without making clear what the options are".
