Alstom has proposed to build new maintenance depots in the UK, if selected to produce trains for High Speed 2. HS2 Ltd wants its trains to be built at least partially in the UK. Formal tendering for high-speed trains begins in late 2016, with bids expected from Bombardier, Hitachi and Siemens.
