“It is important that a mechanism is established to realise the political words of released capacity on the southern West Coast Main Line being available for more freight train paths, because at the moment there is none and it will be up for grabs by passenger operators,” said Chris MacRae, FTA’s head of rail policy. FTA has petitioned Parliament to reflect its members’ concerns over the impact HS2 will have on rail freight capacity.
