Birmingham City Council members have approved plans for a new fleet of 22 hydrogen-powered fuel cell buses. They will be fuelled by hydrogen produced at Tyseley Energy Park, which is planned to open in 2018. The project is designed to test the potential of developing a hydrogen market to encourage the take-up of zero emission transport fuels.
