Implications of Brexit on logistics: FTA briefing

FTA organised a briefing session in November to discuss the implications of Brexit on the logistics industry. Duncan Price, divisional manager of freight, operator licensing and roadworthiness at the DfT provided an insight into Government planning on the subject. He said that, while a wide range of possible models were being considered for a post-Brexit relationship with the EU ahead of Article 50 being triggered, the UK would probably seek a bespoke deal. He explained that the Government wants to transpose EU law into UK law through the introduction of a Great Repeal Bill at the beginning of 2017. DfT is apparently reviewing all transport rules so that the transfer of EU law into UK law may become effective upon withdrawal.
