Rail Minister Claire Perry says good environmental credentials, strong roots in the community, and a diverse workforce are essential characteristics for the industry’s long-term future. “Modernising the railway infrastructure is crucial. But no less important is modernising the industry that designs, builds and runs the network, and making sure it’s fit for the future,” she says. Perry is keen to emphasise that the workforce must reflect the people it serves in the future.
