Overground to run on Boxing Day
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has announced that London Overground will operate services on Boxing Day for the first time. Transport for London first promised them in 2016, when Arriva took over the franchise, but progress stalled while negotiations continued with unions and Network Rail.
TfL is yet to announce which routes it will operate, although with Chelsea, Tottenham and Crystal Palace football clubs all due to play at home, lines serving those locations would seem a likely candidate.
In London, c2c, Southern and Southeastern are the only other operators to have run any Boxing Day services in recent years.
