Vehicles will be banned from Europe's busiest shopping street in a move timed to coincide with opening of Tottenham Court Road and Bond Street Crossrail stations in December 2018, writes transport correspondent Graeme Paton.
The number of shoppers is expected to increase significantly following the arrival of Elizabeth Line services, adding to the four million visitors who already visit the street each week. All cars (except taxis) are already banned between 7am-7pm every day apart from Sunday.
