Smart Pay As You Go on Welsh trains by 2021
Pacers look likely to be fitted with charging sockets for mobile phones despite their planned withdrawal from service by the end of this year.
It forms part of the Grant Agreement between Transport for Wales and TfW Rail Services, which took over the Wales & Borders franchise in October 2018.
Under the agreement Pay As You Go ticketing is due to be introduced by April 2020 for smart card users on the Core Valley Lines and other local services in south east Wales, and on mobile phones for all TfW Rail services by April 2021.
