Online railway merchandise retailer Bufferbeam is to resurrect the Rail Riders Club in 2020, more than three decades after its closure by British Rail.
BR ran the children’s club in the 1980s, but the revived version will be open to enthusiasts of all ages.
Benefits of membership will include the receipt of a quarterly magazine called the Rail Riders Express, which will feature a range of railway-related features and competitions.
A passbook will also be issued that will enable members to receive a discount at a number of heritage railways, museums and other visitor attractions.
Today’s Railways UK reports that Bufferbeam’s parent company has obtained trademark protection so that the club could retain its original name and logo.
A website is currently under construction.
