On the subject of the Siemens Alstom merger, Nick Kingsley argues that, aside from the possible upward impact on prices in a sector largely funded by public money, there is a concern around innovation. He questions how far a giant multi-national can respond nimbly to an increasingly fast-paced mobility market. Kingsley says that questions are rightly being asked as to how the business retains easy and immediate access to the group’s wider competencies in emerging technology, including cloud computing and the Internet of Things.
