Spanish operator Renfe is set to begin trials of a train powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) is what is believed to be the first such trials in Europe.
According to IRJ, the tests were due to take place on the Feve narrow gauge network in Asturias during the first two weeks of December using a Series 2600 train built by CAF.
Researchers hope to establish the technical requirements for space, weight and refrigeration required by LNG traction and its environmental implications.
