Strikes dent patronage, but growth continues

Demand for passenger rail services is still rising, despite the impact of poorer performance and industrial relations problems, says analyst Chris Cheek. He says that, as new rolling stock comes into service, capacity increases will be realised allowing the industry to cope with the growth, though it may be at a lower rate than before.
