Plans to combine two of Europe’s largest high-speed operators were announced in September, with the proposal to be taken forward under the project name ‘Green Speed’.
It envisages Eurostar and Thalys increasing their combined ridership from 18 million passenger journeys in 2018 to 30 million by 2030, and the development of a joint network with shared loyalty programmes, integrated ticketing, easier interchange between routes, a shared rolling stock fleet and improved customer service.
French operator SNCF already has a majority stake in both operators.
