Thrifty football fan’s 56 rail tickets to see one game

The ongoing discussions about split ticketing are brought into sharp focus by the subject of this story. Jonny Heywood from Newcastle booked tickets to watch his local football team against Oxford United away in the FA Cup. He saved £30 by splitting his ticket at seven different stations. In all, this meant he and his girlfriend had 56 tickets between them, which they split into four envelopes to make it manageable. According to the story, other football fans are known to do the same thing. Let’s hope the RDG’s work in this area makes it easier for people like Heywood to get the cheapest price.
