Mirja Sickel gives an interesting insight into research on passenger behaviour commissioned by Amadeus, and what the implications are for rail operators. It identifies six new ‘tribes’ of traveller to replace traditional business and leisure segmentations. They include ‘reward hunters’ who desire luxurious experiences and ‘simplicity searchers’ who value ease in travel planning. She urges rail operators to try and understand which tribes passengers fall into, so they can be better catered for.
