The £800 million project to increase capacity at Waterloo this summer is at risk of being postponed or scaled back, writes Transport Correspondent Mark Hookham.
The Sunday Times understands that Network Rail has already warned train operators that disruption will be much worse than forecasted, as four tracks may need to be shut instead of two, in order to extend four platforms between August 5 to 28.
A source said that this would result in 75% of services being cancelled, creating a ‘massive’ crowding risk at Britain’s busiest station.
